He took me from the wilderness.
I was all alone and death was near.
His plan was to heal me and then let me go.
A reprieve from my harsh reality.Food. Warmth. Safety.
Just us.
It’s temporary and one day I’ll be forced to go home.
But I don’t I want to go back.
I want him to keep me. To tame and love me.Freeing the wild comes with grave consequences.
He thinks they’ll cage him for being with me.Our love’s not right.
They won’t understand it.
Forbidden. Immoral. Perverse. Vile.

I don’t care what they think.
It should only matter to us.
We are innocent and beautiful and worthy.

Love is wild.
And we’re going to set it free.

my FeelingsI know, I know. After reading The Wild, how can I continue on and give this one four stars? Because I’m crazy obviously. But I have to admit it. I enjoyed this extra taboo read! I know I said how The Wild was taboo, but I won’t be doing the same with this one. It was a twist that I NEVER saw coming. I’ll tell you if you really want to know, but if you are planning to read it then I think going in blind is best.

Atticus and Eve were so easy to read about. We met both characters back in The Wild and this was their story. Eve stole the show here and she made me laugh way too much.

“Stop looking at my husband or I’ll make you blind like my dog.”

She was feisty as hell and I couldn’t help but love her. BTW, the dog was blind when she found it. I felt like I had to say that after including that quote. Even though she made me laugh, her backstory gutted me. She’s been through things that no one should have and my heart ached for her.

I devoured this in one sitting and I have no regrets! Just like book one, this book HELLA TABOO. Even more actually. Please don’t read this unless you have an open mind and won’t mind some out of line plot. I seriously mean that because this was so fucked up. Fucked up but good!

  1. Well Kayla I admire this because you went in after the first one and confess loving it! It would have been so easy to dislike on principle! It shows how honest and true you are.

  2. Kayla, I admire your gumption reading this book after not thinking much of the first one; not sure I’d have bothered. 😉
As always, a well written and balanced review, Kyla, but I’m interested to know if it was just the characters and the plot that you got to you more in this book or whether K Webster’s writing style improved? Will you read more of Webster’s books?

    1. Thank you! I’m going to say it was mixture of both. The characters were better and her writing was more fluid. She didn’t rely on shock factors for the reader and just let her story tell itself. I have already added a couple more of her books to my TBR to read.
