Mini Reviews |Historical Romances & a Thriller

Hi friends! I’m back with another post of mini reviews! This post will include a mix of two historical romances and a thriller!

Adorable! This was such a cute and quick holiday treat. I easily loved Pearl and Owen AND Mr. Shorty the corgi.

To keep this short, these two were meant for each other and reading about them figuring that out had a constant smile on my face. This is filled with terribly funny puns, steamy scenes, and just plain holiday goodness.

If you are looking for a historical holiday novella then pick this one up!

The Wife Between Us by Greer Hendricks & Sarah Pekkanen
Rating:
⭐⭐ | Goodreads Link

Disappointed. That’s all my feelings about this book wrapped up into one word. I’m glad that I started with An Anonymous Girl first so at least I know that these two can write well.

The synopsis was so intriguing that I couldn’t wait to read this. However, once I started, this book started to drag. And drag. Goodness, I honestly felt like nothing was happening for so long. The only reason why I kept reading was because I wanted to know actually know what the twist was.

While the twists were good, they were nothing great. I honestly wish that I just asked someone how it ended.

Rating:
 ⭐⭐⭐ | Goodreads Link

I thought that this was good, but not good enough to make it a favorite for me. For it to be compared to The Duchess Deal, I was expecting to love this book. However, the execution of it and the way everything played out just really didn’t hold up to my expectations.

I feel like this book could have been shorter and had the same effect, if not better. There was a repetition of the same issues such as him thinking that she’s too good for him and the situation with her sister. It felt as if this book was being carried by those two issues when we could have had more on their building relationship.

These two did have great chemistry and awesome sex scenes, but I wanted more between them. We read about them fighting, having sex, and having the same drawn out conversation of how he’s a beast and she deserves better. And those repeated the whole time. While I love good steamy moments, I need more of them actually building the connection.

All in all, this wasn’t what I was expecting and while it was good, if the execution was done differently then I would have loved it so much more.

I received an ARC via NetGalley for an honest review.

So that wraps up my reviews of some of the books I have read lately.

Thanks for reading!

  1. Aww man, it’s too bad you didn’t love The Wife Between Us! I’ve read an Anonymous Girl but I didn’t like that one either, I’ve seen mixed reviews on both books so I’m wondering if my opinion will just be totally opposite from you, or if I REALLY don’t connect with their writing!
