Series: Jock Hard
by Sara Ney
My Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Scarlett is always the sensible one: The sober driver. The planner. The one holding your hair back while you’re worshiping the porcelain gods.
Week-after-week, she visits Jock Row with her friends—the university’s hottest party scene and breeding ground for student athletes. And if keeping her friends out of trouble, and guys out of their pants, was a sport, she’d be the star athlete.
Being a well known jock-blocker gets her noticed for all the wrong reasons; just like that, she’s banned from Jock Row. NO GUY WANTS A GIRL AROUND WHO KEEPS THEIR JOCK FRIENDS FROM GETTING LAID.
“Rowdy” Wade is the hot shot short-stop for the university’s baseball team—and the unlucky bastard who drew the short straw: keep little Miss Goody Two-Shoes out of the Baseball House.
But week-after-week Scarlett returns, determined to get inside.
“This is why I keep coming back – this moment right here. The intense way he’s watching me right now, like I’m pretty and interesting, even in these ridiculous clothes. The way is deep voice vibrates hin my chest and awakens those damn butterflies every time he speaks.”
I went into this book with the lowest expectations that a girl could have. Now that I’m done and wiping my eyes while I’m typing this review, I can eat my words. I didn’t expect the relationship between Scarlett and Sterling to take hold of my feelings and spit them out.
I won’t lie, I was about to DNF this book so quick but I stuck with it. The dudes who wanted to throw Scarlett out of the party for cockblocking (I hate that damn word) pissed me off so damn much. Like who TF did they think they were?! This started off as a typical New Adult book. We had shitty friends and very asshole guys. I was honestly making myself try to get through the college cliché bullshit. Honestly, even though her so called friends knew that Scarlett would most likely have to stay outside, they didn’t care. As long as they got to flirt and maybe snag an athlete.
Once Sterling started talking to Scarlett on the porch, I was all in. The banter and sexual tension was one for the books. Friday after Friday, she came back and they would have the funniest conversations. These two got to know each other, even if the situation it was done in was completely morbid.
Scarlett was an absolute pleasure to read about. This girl was too loyal to friends who’d rather chase athletes than stand with her. She came off very down to earth and was easy to love.
Sterling. If you don’t swoon over Sterling, then we can’t be friends. This guy was too pure for words. He was sweet and he didn’t beat around the bush and about what he wanted.
“I don’t want to be just hanging out, remember? Long haul?” I clarify.
I want to date you – just so we’re clear.”
This guy was like a breath of fresh air. He’s not what you usually get with New Adult. A college athlete who wants to actually have a girlfriend and isn’t afraid to show her he cares. The way he adored her and didn’t care that he was laying all his feelings out on the table made my heart clench.
These two made me laugh, sob, and smile so hard. If you can get past the beginning and love a good sweet, no drama romance, then pick this one up! I can’t wait to read book two in the series. *off to download it to my kindle!*
