Sometimes you can’t see the storm coming until it’s too late…
Severe Storm Warning Tip #1:
Be alert to changing weather conditions. Look for approaching storms.
Severe Storm Warning Tip #2:
If you see approaching storms or any of the danger signs, be prepared to take shelter immediately.
Severe Storm Warning Tip #3:
They may strike quickly, with little or no warning.
Situated just outside of Oklahoma City, Calumet County is divided into two drastically different communities: Hope’s Grove and Summit Bluffs. One is the small backward town where dirt roads lead the way to field parties and railroad tracks. And the other, a sprawling suburb where paved drives lead to the landscaped lawns of the wealthy and over privileged.
For five teenagers smack in the middle of Tornado Alley, summer is heating up fast. The winds of change are blurring the invisible line that divides the rich and the rural.
One has a secret.
One has a crush.
One has been lying.
One will get caught.
And one might not make it out alive.
They’re from two different worlds…but one summer is about to change everything.
This had been sitting on my Kindle forever and I just got around to reading it while I was for an appointment. Why did it take me so long to read this?
If I could compare it to something, I could say The Thousandth Floor. Except swap futuristic New York for present day southern Oklahoma. You still have your rich side and your less wealthy side. We switch POV between five characters We have Kyle, his sister Ella Jane, Cooper, Cameron, and Hunter. They are from different sides of town but their lives all intertwine somehow this summer.
It was so easy to get wrapped into this world the authors created. I don’t know if they are from the south but MAN they had the southern sayings down! It wasn’t overdone and it was actually things that we say. (If you can’t tell, overly done southern books annoy me.)
Anywho, this book was very entertaining and kept me reading till I reached the end. I really don’t want to go too much into plot here. The synopsis doesn’t give that much away, and I don’t want to either. It’s so much easier to go in blind. Just know that the angst is real in this one!
This book warns that there is a storm coming and this storm is here to take some lives. This ends in a cliffhanger that’s so damn cruel. I need to know more dammit! All in all, this is definitely worth a read!
