Listen to Your Heart
My Rating: ⭐⭐⭐
Talking to other people isn’t Kate Bailey’s favorite activity. She’d much rather be out on the lake, soaking up the solitude and sunshine. So when her best friend, Alana, convinces Kate to join their high school’s podcast, Kate is not expecting to be chosen as the host. Now she’ll have to answer calls and give advice on the air? Impossible.
But to Kate’s surprise, she turns out to be pretty good at the hosting gig. Then the podcast gets in a call from an anonymous guy, asking for advice about his unnamed crush. Kate is pretty sure that the caller is gorgeous Diego Martinez, and even surer that the girl in question is Alana. Kate is excited for her friend … until Kate herself starts to develop feelings for Diego. Suddenly, Kate finds that while doling out wisdom to others may be easy, asking for help is tougher than it looks, and following your own advice is even harder.
Kasie West’s adorable story of secrets, love, and friendship is sure to win over hearts everywhere.
Kasie West books are always a guilty pleasure of mine. I will always pick one up when I’m in the mood for a light read. This was a very funny and easy read.
I loved that it was based on a school podcast. Students helping students with their issues. Kate was pushed out of her comfort zone and saw that there was maybe more out there than her running the family marina. She got to find out that she had a voice and she could help people. The romance was adorable and just made me smile! The whole time you’re wondering how is this going to end? I will say that I’m glad this didn’t turn in to a weird love triangle.
The characters were great and I loved that we were introduced to characters that were from different cultures. I also liked that there was no girl hate in this book.
Now, I predicted everything that was happening but it didn’t take away from the book. I still enjoyed the journey of seeing how things would work out. It was a fun wild ride!
All in all, this was a really light and fun read. Even though it was a bit predictable, I enjoyed it and recommend if you are looking for a light read!
