This was exactly what I needed after a murder mystery. What happens when you get a mechanic and a baker together? Sparks!
There a lot of reviews that compare it to Kirsten Ashley’s work but sadly I can’t say if it is or not. I haven’t read any of her work. I know, I know. Don’t throw your tomatoes this way!
I just wanted an easy sexy romance and that’s what I got plus a little more. I didn’t expect for this book to really grab me. I just couldn’t stop reading. Yes, there is a bit of an instant connection. However, I’m not going to say that it was insta love. They didn’t immediately fall in love. It took trial and error and quite a few misunderstandings.
“Love’s anarchy. There are no rules, no rhyme or reason. You can’t control it. You can fight to keep it and lose. Or fight to keep it away and lose. Or win, depending. Love’s chaos. It’s mayhem.”
Piper was sweet, fun, and hilarious while Jake was brooding, bossy, and had a lot of history. These two made me smile so much in this book. Especially Jake, he was all in and I couldn’t get enough of him expressing his love for Piper. They weren’t the only ones that made me smile. I also loved the side characters of this book. Especially the boys. They were hilarious, especially when it came to Piper’s baking.
Now the reason my rating isn’t higher is because there was just a bit too much drama for me. Don’t get me wrong, I like a little of drama here and there, but every time I turned around there was something going on. Either a blast from Jake’s past or just an argument for no reason.
All in all, it was a great sexy read that gave me more than I thought it would. This was my first book my Layla Frost and I can’t wait to see what else she writes.
