I didn’t love this as much as I thought I would.
We have Emma and Gavin who always see each other at the same time every day in the coffee shop for the past few months. It’s actually Emma’s favorite part of her day. One day she sees Gavin leave his business card in the tip jar and decide it was meant for her so she picks it up and decides to reach out to him. This is where our story begins.
“It started out as a dirty little secret, something to amuse myself with.”
I loved the storyline. A shy librarian and a sexy alpha male, um yes! It just didn’t deliver a fluid story that I could’ve fallen in love with.
The characters were okay to me. Emma was easy to like. She was shy but also wasn’t afraid to stick up for herself. She had a terrible relationship in the past and wanted an adventure to get out of her everyday rut. Gavin was exactly what you would picture an alpha male in the story to be. Intimidating and intense. I did like that Emma didn’t let Gavin’s actions push her away like he wanted. But lord I really wanted to slap him sometimes. All his back and forth was giving me whiplash! He would either push Emma away or dominate her whenever he could.
“I knew this wouldn’t be casual, knew I wouldn’t walk away from this in one piece.”
This ended on a cliffhanger that made me say a string of curse words that weren’t for the faint hearted. I need to see how this gets resolved, like pronto!
Overall, it was sexy, the drama was there and I would recommend this book if you want an easy read with some steam.
