Ruthless King ( Mount Trilogy #1) by Meghan March

New Orleans belongs to me.
You don’t know my name, but I control everything you see—and all the things you don’t.
My reach knows no bounds, and my demands are always met.
I didn’t need to loan money to a failing family distillery, but it amuses me to have them in my debt.
To have her in my debt.
She doesn’t know she caught my attention.
She should’ve been more careful.
I’m going to own her. Consume her. Maybe even keep her.
It’s time to collect what I’m owed.
Keira Kilgore, you’re now the property of Lachlan Mount.

“You’ve underestimated me, Mount. You might get me, but I won’t come cowering before you.”

Wow! Just… I need a minute. This book was everything I needed. I wanted a quick read that would suck me up into the plot and I didn’t have to think too much. And this book did the trick.

Keira was trying to survive after the death of her cheating husband and mistake called a marriage. She was trying to keep her family’s distillery afloat while being up to her eyeballs in debt. She then finds out that her late husband had a debt of his own. He owed money to the most feared man in New Orleans, Lachlan Mount. Knowing she’s unable to pay, Lachlan says that there is one thing that he will take as payment besides money. Keira herself. This is where our story begins.

“Lachlan Mount will not break me. He might fuck me. He might fuck with my head. But he will never break me.”

I was sucked in from the first page. Keira was a great lead character. She was strong but she also had her flaws. She wants to be in control. Maybe not so much in the bedroom, but she wouldn’t admit it. She hated the way her body reacted to Lachlan. She was trying not to get caught up in the mind games Lachlan are playing and trying not to enjoying whatever was happening between them.

Lachlan Mount. This man is psychotic and that’s what I like in a love interest in books like this. He was controlling, possessive, and downright owned that city. He could get away with anything and nobody could touch him. This man oozed sex. I felt bad for Keira because she didn’t stand a chance against him.

“There’s a fire burning in her that I’ve never found in another woman”

These two together was like watching something you know you shouldn’t be but you can’t look away. It was a battle of who would give in. There was so much tension between these two.

There were twists and turns towards the end that I did not see coming. This book was dirty, steamy, and sucked me up completely. I need the second book in the trilogy so bad, November 14 can’t come fast enough!!!
